Tulum in Mexico
Tulum

Tulum has gained great popularity over the years, and the main reason includes the Tulum beach area, in addition to its proximity to several Mayan archaeological sites, which is another great historical indigenous culture present here in Mexico alongside the Aztecs. Its most emblematic feature is the Tulum National Park, housing well-preserved Mayan ruins perched atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. These ruins give great insight into the vast history and culture of the ancient Maya civilization.

Besides the archaeological site itself, Tulum is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal waters, and eco-tourism. Now, with nature, culture, and the laid-back atmosphere combined, it has placed itself as one of the favorite destinations where travelers can enjoy adventure, relaxation, and a view of the real Mexico.

4. Cancun

Cancun in Mexico
Cancun

Cancun is known for its clear, blue Gatorade-colored waters, and for its proximity to several islands, such as Isla Mujeres, which many choose to visit while in Cancun.

The white sand and turquoise, clear waters fascinate people. They’ve also got a spring break party scene if you’re into it. Here you’ll find Señor Frog’s, Hard Rock Cafe, and Coco Bongo, so, as I mentioned, Cancun’s nightlife scene comes alive. A lot of people like to stay in all-inclusive resorts or beachside resorts, so check them out. It offers the beach lover a host of activities like swimming, snorkeling, diving, scuba diving, and ancient Mayan ruins exploration.

5. Cabo San Lucas

#Famous places to visit in Mexico

Cabo San Lucas in Mexico
Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, also known as Los Cabos, has beautiful beach resorts, great food, deep sea fishing, snorkeling tours, desert tours, and razors and ATVs. Horseback riding, camel rides—lots to do out here. It’s a totally different vibe than Quintana Roo because over there it’s tropical and jungle; over here it’s more of a desert. And because it’s more of a desert, you can do off-roading, but you’ll notice the beach has a different color of sand.

Over here, it’s more of a dirt, sandy, pebble-like sand. It’s still soft, but it’s not like the pure white sand you get in Cancun. Cabo is a great place for whale watching. Let me tell you—beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and also awesome nightlife right there on the beach.

 6. Isla Mujeres

Moreover, it is a perfect place to relax, swim, and catch some sunshine.

Certain key attractions that appeal to this place incomparable include ancient Mayan ruins, beautiful cliffs, and temples dedicated to the Mayan goddess of the moon and fertility, Ixel. The views from here are just spectacular. It deals specifically with the protection and conservation of sea turtles. One can acquire knowledge regarding these amazing animals and also be involved in releasing the babies into the water. This is a heaven for those people who love fishing and boating. And last but not least, try the local delicious cuisine.

7. Rio Secreto

The Rio Secreto Idealmente situated on the cusp of Playa del Carmen in Mexico is an extraordinary underground river coupled with a cave system. The site comes with clear turquoise waters and complex limestone designs that create a sense of adventure. The visitors have the option of either swimming or walking in the underground maze, with the ceilings and floors encased in “sparkling” formations of rocks that have been shaped over eons into stalactites and stalagmites.

I must mention, that not even a cell phone or wristwatch is allowed on the trip and after this, I understand why. If something is misplaced in this place it is misplaced, for good. Lockers are provided to keep your personal effects safe and they have wet suits for you if you would like. The tour is also educational as it touches on the region’s history and the Mayans. This place is really fascinating.

Teotihuacan Pyramid

Teotihuacan can be rightly called one of the most impressive and interesting archaeological sites in the whole of Mesoamerica. Among the many attractions of Teotihuacan, none is more famous than the Pyramid of the Sun, which is the largest structure in the city and the third-largest pyramid in the world. The pyramid which stands 65 meters in height provides a stunning view and keeps the sense of the city’s past splendor intact. To add to interesting things, The Pyramid of the Moon which is located at the terminal of Avenues of the Dead is also one of the attractions.

In Teotihuacan as well is located a more extensive complex called the Citadel, which also represents the Temple of the Feathered Serpent. Bacalar Lagoon, which is sometimes referred to as the Lagoon of Seven Colors, has to be one of the loveliest places I have been to in Mexico. Bacalar is in the Yucatan Peninsula, about a few hour’s drive south of Cancun.

In Bacalar, for instance, one can find out some of the town’s history by visiting a 300-year-old fort where the amazing views of the lagoon can be also enjoyed. Additionally, I suggest heading out to the lagoon. You can do this by renting out kayaks, and paddleboards or by taking a sailboat tour in the town.

Hit the beach and be awed by one of the largest bays in the world, the Bay of Banderas. Enjoy the outdoors: snorkeling or hiking in the Sierra Madre mountains nearby.
